Today I simply can’t write about anything else. Today it happened. Our oldest son was away for a birthday party and Elisabeth was there with him. I was at home with Esther, waiting for Elisabeth’s parents to arrive. When they did it happened. Esther was with her grandfather when he put her on the floor, she was standing up and I held my arms out towards her, then it happened. She took one step, not falling, then another and yet another. In total it took her 8 steps to get the 1,5 metres into my arms and she didn’t fall once. Today I’m the proudest father ever! This was the best father’s day gift! She hasn’t been able to repeat it yet, but we now know that she can take steps on her own! Soon we will have a little Esther running around in our home!

On Monday Esther is having her 1 year birthday and we have a weekend full of festivities with family.

Tomorrow we’re off to church and after my family will come round for some cake and on Monday we’re gathering some families to celebrate Esther’s birthday together with us.

Since I don’t have a picture for you of Esther walking you’ll get a video of some skillful babies instead.

Take care.
